Our Founder

EATability was founded in February, 2023, by Charlene Trist M.G.T (HD), GradCert GT. In addition to being a passionate cook, Charlene is an experienced disability and aged care support worker and holds both a Masters Degree and a Graduate Certificate in Gastronomic Tourism from the worlds most prestigious culinary school Le Cordon Bleu and Southern Cross University.

Charlene has always had a special interest in the aesthetic experience of food and drink, especially the sensory-perceptual, social and cultural aspects of food experiences.

Since becoming a mother to two wonderful children living with disability, she adapted her skills and knowledge and incorporated cookery into their therapeutic regime as a creative intervention to improve their wellbeing. She has also incorporated cookery, food play and fun food experiences when supporting her aged and disability clients, with impressive results.

More and more new research is showing that cookery and positive food experiences help to improve mood, physical wellbeing, social connections and personal acceptance. From this research, EATability was born.

About EATability

At EATability, we believe that food is more than just nourishment—it’s a way to connect, care, and empower. We are passionate about helping people enjoy the benefits of home-cooked meals, whether that means preparing them with love or teaching the skills to create them independently.

We specialise in providing meal preparation and cooking support for NDIS participants and Home Care package recipients, offering services that are tailored to meet your unique needs, preferences, and lifestyle. Our focus is on making sure that every meal is enjoyable, every interaction is caring, and every service we provide enhances your well-being.

EATability offers three key services to support your health, independence, and enjoyment of food:

  • Fill and Feast: Let us take the stress out of meal planning and cooking by preparing delicious, home-cooked meals in your home that are ready to fill your fridge or freezer.

  • Meal Time Mastery: Our cooking lessons help you build confidence in the kitchen, teaching you the skills and knowledge to cook your own meals with independence and pride.

  • Cook and Care: More than just meal preparation, we offer friendly companionship, providing the option to cook together or have meals prepared for you, depending on your preference.

Founded on the principles of care, connection, and choice, EATability is here to support your journey—whether you need help filling your fridge with nourishing meals, want to grow your kitchen skills, or simply enjoy sharing a meal with someone who cares.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide quality food services that improve the lives of our clients by promoting independence, enhancing well-being, and creating a sense of community through the joy of home-cooked meals.

Our Values

At EATability, our values define who we are and guide every aspect of our operations. We are dedicated to upholding the following principles:

Care
We put people first, ensuring every meal and service is delivered with care and compassion. We create a nurturing environment where each individual feels supported and valued.

Empowerment
We help individuals build confidence and independence, giving them the skills and support needed to thrive—whether through meal preparation or cooking lessons.

Connection
We believe food is a powerful connector—to our identity, family culture, and traditions, as well as to society and our communities. EATability helps discover, maintain, and strengthen these ties, supporting your participation in the community through shared meals and meaningful interactions.

Quality
Our commitment to quality lies in our deep knowledge of food, nutrition, and people. We prioritise clear communication, effective teaching, and ensuring that the outcomes of our services enhance your well-being and enjoyment of food.

Respect
We respect each person's unique tastes, preferences, and cultural traditions, while also honouring their right to dignity and control. Every service is personalised with care and dignity, empowering clients to make choices that suit their needs and lifestyle.
