Frequently Asked Questions

What services does EATability offer?

EATability provides three core services:

  • Fill & Feast: In-home meal preparation where we cook meals that are ready to fill your fridge or freezer, tailored to your tastes and dietary needs.

  • Meal Time Mastery: Hands-on cooking lessons designed to help you build confidence and independence in the kitchen.

  • Cook & Care: Personalised meal preparation combined with warm companionship, with the option to join in the cooking process.

How are recipes selected for my meals or lessons?

During our intake process, we take the time to learn about your food preferences, dietary needs, and any favourite or cultural dishes you enjoy. We also survey your kitchen appliances and equipment to ensure the recipes we suggest can be comfortably prepared within the booked session time. Based on this information, we recommend recipes we believe you’ll love. Some clients prefer to provide their own recipes or make special requests, and we’re happy to accommodate that too. Whether you’re looking to try something new or recreate a cherished dish, we tailor everything to fit your tastes, needs, and kitchen setup.

Can EATability support clients with learning disabilities or accessibility needs?

Absolutely! At EATability, we believe everyone should have the chance to enjoy cooking and meals that meet their needs. We’ll work closely with you, your informal supports and your specialists to create a personalised care plan that ensures all your needs are fully met. Whether through hands-on assistance, simplified instructions, or specialised tools, we tailor our services to make sure you feel fully supported and confident in the kitchen.

How is EATability different from meal delivery services?

EATability provides personalised, in-home meal preparation through our Fill & Feast support service. Instead of delivering pre-made meals, we come to your home and prepare fresh, home-cooked meals tailored to your preferences, dietary needs, and cultural tastes. We also offer the option to cook alongside you or provide companionship during the process, making our service more personal and flexible.

Can EATability cater to specific dietary needs?

Yes! We cater to all dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, and preferences such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, low-sodium, or diabetes-friendly meals. We also specialize in preparing texture-modified meals for those with swallowing difficulties or other dietary conditions.

Do I need to provide the ingredients?

Yes, as part of all our services, we ask clients to provide the ingredients. We’ll send you a shopping list and can even do the shopping for you if required, however, the cost of ingredients is not included in our service charges.

How much do your services cost?

Pricing varies based on the service and your specific needs. We offer competitive rates and flexible packages to suit your budget. For NDIS and Home Care Package recipients, costs may be covered through your plan. Contact us for a personalised quote or to learn more about your funding options.

Can I participate in the cooking process?

Absolutely! With our Cook and Care service, you can choose to participate as much or as little as you like—whether you want to cook alongside our friendly staff or prefer to relax while we prepare everything for you. In our Meal Time Mastery service, active participation is encouraged as we guide you through hands-on cooking lessons designed to build your skills, confidence, and independence in the kitchen. We tailor both services to your comfort level and goals.

Do you prepare meals for families or just individuals?

We can prepare meals for individuals, couples, and families. Whether you need meals for yourself or for your entire household, we’ll customize the service to suit your family’s preferences and needs.

How often can I book your services?

EATability offers flexible scheduling options. You can book us for regular weekly or bi-weekly visits, or on an as-needed basis. Whether you want ongoing support or occasional assistance, we’re happy to work around your schedule.
